 January 2003

Dear Precious Friends,

Well we have been back in Tanzania nearly 2 weeks with our team. I am meeting'd out!- but it has been really profitable as we take time to strengthen and build our team together under our new name for the ministry here- Imara Ministry Foundation [IMF !] or Imara for short.

We are blessed with having a new member on the team. His name is Godsave and he is truly a god- save! One day I will ask him to recount his life story. But in a nutshell he was to be left for the hyenas when he was sick as a very young child. But God saved him amazingly. He is looking after the Karanse Widows and childrens project which we visited 2 days ago. Lyndall shares here about that trip.....

"Godsave and Robert, Mike and I visited Karanse on Saturday 24th, January.

When we arrived Pastor Warrieli was speaking to the widows group who meet every Saturday. There were around 70 widows there. After we had greeted them and had lunch we went to see two of the houses. One of them is a new house, almost completed , except for floor, windows and doors. It is made of burnt bricks which they are making at Karanse. This house was a bit bigger than the other ones but this widow has 8 children. Then we went to see another widows home. She was very happy with her new home and we prayed together and she prayed a prayer full of thankfulness. It is so good to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living!

Thank you to those who donated for these homes. You may not think you are rich, but you are compared with these people, and the Lord made you rich so you can share with others. Remember what James said about pure religion - it is to look after orphans and widows in their distress. So we thank you on their behalf.

On the way back we had a bonus, because we met Ellena, a woman whose husband died of AIDS. She was also very sick 2 years ago. [Rt Ellena 2 years back dressed in green when she was sick]

In April 2002, Mike and some Oz visitors and Pastor Warieli prayed for this woman and now she has put on weight and looks really well! Praise to Jesus Name!!”

Our children are all accepted into University at Curtin in WA- what a blessing when you consider there were a third of our states kids rejected. I felt that it was the last major hurdle we needed to cross for the family and we are so thankful it went the way we asked for! God is good!

Finally, we farewelled our friends and predecessors Alan and Shirley Cook back to New Zealand…. Thank you both for being here while we were in Oz!

Blessings to you all,

Mike & Lyndall
